Connect

July 10th, 2008 · No Comments

It’s with a great deal of sadness to hear of the winding down of the Connect network in Scotland.  The team has for the last 12 years tried to create a bridge between young technology companies, university spinouts and investors.  In their early days their conferences and sessions were a must attend for any tech entrepreneurs, […]

June 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Having spent a very enjoyable week delivering a fairly generic talk about games in learning and assessment to FE college lecturers last week at the SFEU I was delighted to have been the focus of my first letter of complaint (as far as I am aware) to the organisers  from one of the more vocal members of one […]

Learning while gaming on handhelds

October 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Last week I attended the Handheld Learning Conference in London.   I attended a pre-conference seminar which turned out to be the most animated and interesting session.
Marc Prensky was presiding and he started by talking about how when trying to sell learning games ‘in the early days’  people argued that learning games were too trivial.    Prensky now agrees with these doubters ‘ […]

Edinburgh Interactive Festival

August 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

Earlier this month I attended a few of the sessions at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival.  A couple of really good talks, a lot of very bland talks and some truly awful stuff.   (the worst chairperson I have ever had the misfortune to listen to at the games actually session)
Most of the key talks, discussions were transcribed live at http://roguelikedeveloper.blogspot.com/.
One of […]
